<intro>
Ben Roethlisberger has been asked to submit a DNA sample to the police as part of the investigation into accusations that the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman in Georgia last Friday morning.

The woman told police that she was inside the restroom of the nightclub “Capital City” in Milledgeville, Georgia, when Big Ben entered the restroom and allegedly assaulted her early Friday morning.

The Milledgeville Police Department claim they have made the request for a DNA sample to Roethlisberger’s legal team and have said that they believe that he will comply and willingly submit a sample of his DNA.

Ben's lawyer has already stated that his client is "innocent of any crime," and a DNA sample could possibly only strengthen his case and actually clear his name concerning the incident. Of course, if in fact Roethlisberger did sexually assault the woman in question, the DNA sample could only hurt his case in the long run. Either way, a DNA sample from him would either make or break the case.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback has already been interviewed by the police once about the alleged incident at the nightclub in Georgia, but they have let Roethlisberger know that they would like to speak with him again sometime this week.

    <intro>

Pittsburgh Steelers’ QB Ben Roethlisberger has hired Atlanta attorney Ed Garland to represent him in defense of a Georgia woman’s recent claims that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her. Garland is best known for his successful defense of Baltimore Ravens’ LB Ray Lewis against murder charges in 2000.

The move by Roethlisberger seems to indicate that he at least understands the very serious nature of the charges being brought against him. The officials investigating the sexual assault charges are expected to make an announcement this afternoon.

According to some stories, the 20-year old woman who filed the complaint was “hysterical” when she arrived at the Milledgeville Police station. Meanwhile, two opposing stories concerning the behavior of Roethlisberger during the evening in question have surfaced. One paints the scene of a less-than-polite Ben out on the prowl, and the other portrays him as a nice guy who merely paused to take some photos with the occasional fan.

The name of the women has not been released.

The woman told police that she was inside the restroom of the nightclub “Capital City” in Milledgeville, Georgia, when Big Ben entered the restroom and allegedly assaulted her early Friday morning.

According to police sources, the women has been questioned by police and then she was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations are both involved in the investigation and are interviewing additional witnesses as well. They have also talked with Roethlisberger concerning the alleged incident, but no formal charges have been filed against him and he has not been charged with a crime at this time.

    <intro>
How many YINZ got?

I still have no idea what that means.

What I do know, is that Pittsburgh fans will continue to call it Sixburgh. They won't have to worry about how awkward Sevenburgh sounds. I also am reminded how hard it is to repeat in the NFL, as it seems it is hard to in all sports as well. The NFL has the most recent back to back champions, the Patriots in 2004 and 2005. The NFL has never had a team win three in a row. In the NBA the Lakers are the last team to repeat, and in MLB it would be the Yankees. Both teams are the reigning champs and will try to repeat in 2010.

Another question I have, are the fans in Sixburgh upset? Kerri Corazon and I went out to our local Friday's for dinner. There was a Steeler fan wearing his number 7 jersey at the bar. At least, I think it was a fan. He only looked a little bit like Ben Roethlisberger. I imagine he arrived at the bar in time for the Steelers win over the Dolphins. He was still there when the Ravens eliminated Pittsburgh with their win over Oakland. He did not seem to mind at all. He kept saying "We've got Six. How many YINZ got?"

I went to Wikipedia, because I foolishly trust Wikipedia even though Raj on the TV show "The Big Bang Theory" admitted that he spends his time making false updates to Wikipedia. But I did my research for this article. Wikipedia says that YINZ is second person plural in the language they speak in Sixburgh.

The Steelers have only themselves to blame. They started 6-2, then lost 5 in a row, including losses to the Raiders, Chiefs, and Browns. At 6-7, they won their final three, but it was too little too late. Coach Mike Tomlin promised the team would unleash hell in December. Too bad for Sixburgh, they waited two weeks and then tried to save the season.

The Steelers will be watching the playoffs from home. But then, YINZ knew that.
</intro>

    <intro>
Was there any doubt that we’d be in this spot?

If you thought the season would end any other way, you clearly have not been paying attention. Here’s what will happen this weekend;

Steelers will beat Dolphins

Patriots will beat the Texans

Broncos will beat the Chiefs

I am fairly certain that the Ravens will beat the Raiders, but I have another post coming on that topic.

That leaves the Bengals vs Jets to determine our fate… on Sunday night no less. Last game of the regular season.

Conventional wisdom has the Jets playing much harder than the Bengals especially since Cincinnati will be locked into the #4 seed come kickoff time. I remember in ’89 when we needed the Vikings to beat the Bengals on Monday night (last game of the regular season) for us to get in. This time we need Cinci to come out on top, but the circumstances are very similar.

One other thing… If the Bengals lose to the Jets this week they are almost assured of getting them right back in the Wild Card Round. They will of course know this, and do they really want to face a team that JUST beat them? Now the Bengals have not played well of late, but I think they are a slightly better team than the Jets and I’m hoping that talent will win on this day.

If the Bengals pull it off, we’ll have a date with New England. I’ll be the first to say; I hate that matchup, but I’ll take it to get in.

    <intro>
Maybe Steelers fans won't mind not being in the playoffs this year.

Think of it, they would have to go get all new gear and slogans. Sevenburgh? It just does not have the same ring to it. Sixburgh for Pittsburgh works. Or those signs that say "We got 6, how many YINZ got?"

And now, I digress. First, what does that even mean? What is a Yinz? I suppose I do not know because I do not have 6. And that brings me to my next point. My team in the NFL has 3 Super Bowl wins. I remember them well. I went to two of the parades. As I recall, I was not actually in either of those parades. I was watching them. I also did nothing to contribute to the Super Bowl wins. So, in answer to the above question, I've got nothing.

But we love to be a "we". Our team. Us. Yankee fans love to talk about 27, even though most were not alive for many of those wins. I honestly do not see Celtics fans saying "We got 17, how many YINZ got?" And I do not even know how many the Canadiens have, the fans don't brag about it. Or take my friend Jose. I was over at his house to watch the second Bengals game this season. His game room was yellow and black. The plates and napkins were yellow and black. Steeler gear was everywhere. Jose is a great guy, but on closer inspection, he married into his Steeler fandom. He really has 2, but don't tell him that. He thinks he has 6. I should ask Jose what Yinz means.

But back to the current Steelers. Coach Mike Tomlin promised "we will unleash hell in December". Interesting promise. I'm a religious person, but I have never been much of a fire and brimstone kind of guy. But clearly Mike Tomlin's definition of hell and what I imagine hell would be like are two different things. The Steelers lost to the 4-8 Raiders and then the 2-11 Browns. It just does not seem as scary as burning for eternity. I have to rethink this when I tell Yankee fans to go to hell. Is it Mike Tomlin's version of hell? Not so scary.

The Steelers have the Packers, Ravens, and Dolphins. It is possible Pittsburgh could drop all 3, as their opponents have higher playoff hopes than they have. It is unlikely they will win all 3. Even if they do, at 9-7, they are probably home during the playoffs. In Sixburgh.
</intro>

    <intro>
Ohio — Defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers lost their fifth-consecutive game as they were beaten 13-6 by the hapless Cleveland Browns. The victory snapped a 12-game losing streak by the Browns, who won for the first time since beating Buffalo in week five of the National Football League season.

Chris Jennings ran for 73 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for Cleveland, who entered the game last in the NFL in total offence and defence.

Brady Quinn competed just six of 19 passes but didn't throw any interceptions and posted his first win as a starter this season.

Steelers quarter Ben Roethlisberger went 18-of-32 for a total of 201 yards and was sacked eight times. Rashard Mendenhall had 53 yards rushing on 16 carries for Pittsburgh.

"To lose five straight coming off a Super Bowl from last year is embarrassing," Pittsburgh receiver Hines Ward said. "There's nothing fun about losing games, especially five in a row. We're better than that. We should play better than that. With three games left, you're going to see who really wants to go out here and play for the pride of this organization and this city and who doesn't want to be around here."

The Browns ran for 171 yards compared to 75 for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh is 1 1/2 games behind Jacksonville for the final AFC wild card playoff position.

They are now going to need help to make the playoffs as they play home contests against Green Bay and Baltimore before their final game of the regular-season in Miami.

The Indianpolis Colts and New Orleans Saints will have to wait until the weekend to see if they can keep their perfect seasons intact.

The Colts can clinch home-field advantage for the AFC playoffs and set the league mark for consecutive regular-season victories if they beat Denver on Sunday and reach 13-0.

The Saints can get to 13 wins Sunday in Atlanta after gaining some breathing space on Minnesota last week when the Vikings dropped to 10 wins and two losses.

"It (16-0) is not that important," Colts coach Jim Caldwell said. "You've seen a lot of great records in the regular season, but the ultimate goal is to win it all. So the regular season really doesn't matter except to get in. Going undefeated in the regular season isn't really that big a priority."

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees says he looks forward to trying to do something special.

"We're here, aren't we? I mean, who knows if we will ever get this close again. All I'll say is this: You've got an opportunity to make history," Brees said.
</intro>

    <intro>
Cleveland and Pittsburgh meet tonight in an AFC North rivalry.

I have to admit that I was totally wrong in my prediction (31-10 Steeler) last week against Oakland. I usually am right about that stuff but I admit I was wrong.

It is official, the Steelers can't put anybody away. Will they win tonight? If Bruce Gradkowski can torch the Steelers secondary, why can't Quinn? He can do it and he just may do it.

The Steelers have won 12 straight games against Cleveland and Ben Roethlisberger has never lost to Cleveland. I would like to say that the Steelers (6-6) should be able to beat the Browns (1-11) but that isn't the case anymore. If the Steelers have lost to the Chiefs and the Raiders (at home) then anything is possible.

The special teams have struggled against EVERYBODY this year. Joshua Cribbs has already took one back against the Steelers this season in Pittsburgh. They HAVE to be better. They cannot let a return back tonight. This is a must win game if the Steelers want a shot at the postseason.

What I expect- I expect a close game throughout. The frigid weather helps the Steelers and their run game. I expect another boring NFL Network Thursday night game to be honest. I can't image the Steelers losing to the Browns but it could easily happen.

Steelers 16

    <intro>
The Pittsburgh Steelers will get back on track after Sunday's game against Oakland.

First of all I wanted to say that everyone who is interested in this article can keep up with me this same website for the rest of the season. I will give scores and winners of the games that the Steelers are in so stayed tuned.

Mike Tomlin said that the Steelers were going to “raise hell” in December; well yeah they are going to have to do just that. At 6-5 there is no room for error and Tomlin knows this. Hines Ward was very critical of Ben Roethlisberger after the Ravens game when Roethlisberger did not play because of headaches from his concussion against Kansas City. Hines basically said that the locker room was divided down the middle in whether Big Ben should have played or not. Hines said that he had played before with a concussion and he knows other people who have done the same. The problem with that is Ben has had more than one concussion and in these NFL days people cannot rush concussions. Hines later backed down from those comments.

My prediction- I think the Steelers will “raise hell” in December and it starts this Sunday against Oakland (3-8). I believe that Big Ben has a great day and hooks up with Hines Ward at least once. The running game looks solid as Rashard Mendenhall has a productive day running the football. The defense will get to the quarterback multiple times and will force at least a turnover. I would normally say that the score would be closer than people think because the Steelers struggle to put any team away but this week I feel it will be different.

Steelers win 31-10
</intro>

    <intro>
I did alright against Baltimore but I could have played better. My goal is always to get on the quarterback. I had two sacks and a strip but I know I missed at least one or two tackles that I wish I could have back.

Playing without Troy back there was tough. TC was great filling in, but Troy is our inspirational leader, he leads by example. He’s a playmaking guru, one of the best safeties in the game. TC did a great job but Troy is Troy.

I also thought Dennis Dixon did a great job. The short time he had to come out of nowhere and be the starter was crazy, the way he played shows you what type of quarterback he can be and I think he’s going to be a great quarterback.

We had our chances in this game, now we have to put it behind us. It’s time for December football, that’s when you have to put yourself within arm’s reach of making the playoffs. We have to have a big December.

Every game is important and we have to take it one game at a time. We can’t look ahead at all, we definitely can’t look past Sunday when we have Oakland just because of their record. We know they’re going to come to play. Every game is going to dictate what happens to our season, how far we can go. Everybody knows that every game is super important.

As for me, I’ve been banged up quite a bit this year but I’m staying positive. I’ve still got a ways to go and a whole lot more to do this year.

Also, I will be on ESPN Radio today at 5:30 p.m. if you get the chance listen in.

    <intro>
With Ben Roethlisberger possibly having a concussion and Charlie Batch now out 6 weeks with a wrist injury, the Steelers may have to turn to rooke Dennis Dixon out of Oregon in this week's showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

Dennis Dixon had a stellar senior season at Oregon last year. Dixon led his Ducks to a number 2 BCS ranking with wins over Arizona State, Michigan and USC just to name a few. He was pulled out of the Arizona State game with a torn ACL, but was cleared to play two weeks later against Arizona but was obviously not himself. He scored a running touchdown but his knee buckled and was forced to leave the game as the Ducks lost to Arizona 34-24. Dixon was a contender for the Heisman before getting injured. He is a versatile; he can run and throw pretty well. He is an athlete. He got drafted in the 5th round of the 2007 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves.

I'm not sure if Dennis Dixon can get the job done against the Ravens this week but I think he may present some problems for the Ravens. He can throw and run which no quarterback for the Steelers has been able to do since Kordell Stewart. Not that the offensive coordinator does anything out of the ordinary but Dixon can provide the offense with some different options. Dixon is an athlete that can do it all. He might not be enough to beat the Ravens but I think he has a legitimate shot to beat them but he will need help from the offensive line, special teams and running back to help him.
</intro>

    <intro>
During the bye week I got a lot of rest in and spent time with my cousin Brian on Halloween. We went out in town and had a lot of fun, saw a lot of funny costumes, it was great.

I definitely feel refreshed. Anytime you can get a week off, even though I do love football, it’s always great to get some time away.

We play at Denver on Monday Night Football and that’s definitely exciting. Monday night it’s the only game that day, it’s like the game of the week. You know everyone will be watching and that makes it more exciting.

I got a shot in my ankle today. They took 10 CCs of my blood, and they have a machine that takes the plasma out. Then they injected the plasma into my ankle. That helps speed up the process of healing. It helped me to a speedy recovery the last time I hurt my ankle.

It’s really gotten better and I’ve been working out on the Nordic track, walking in water, rotating the ankle to make it stronger, icing it, doing exercises to help loosen it up.

I had to wear a boot for a week but I got that taken off and now I can get around on my own. But I still can’t run on it. It’s day-to-day right now whether I will play on Monday. Last time I hurt my ankle it was touch and go on Wednesday, but by that Sunday I was ready to play. So I have hope.

I was really happy that Florida State beat North Carolina State this week. Bobby Bowden gave me a scholarship out of high school. It’s a tough time for him right now, they’re talking about letting him go. I just hope he finishes the season strong. He’s too much of a legend to go out with people talking like that about him. I’m definitely a big supporter.

    <intro>
We have a bye this week, and it’s really beautiful timing for us to have a bye because I hurt my ankle.

Minnesota ran a reverse and I had contain on the play. I was on my way to make the tackle but our DT thought he was gonna make the play, too. He didn’t mean to but he rolled up on my ankle, so it came from friendly fire.

It’s a Grade 1 sprain, not a big deal, and it’s the other ankle from the one I hurt earlier in the season. I should come back faster than I did from that high ankle sprain. I should be able to make it back for the Denver game, which will be Nov. 9 on Monday Night Football.

The defense came up really big against Minnesota. Brett Keisel had a big strip on Favre and LaMarr took it to the house, that was huge. One thing about our D, we’re always trying to give the offense a shorter field, we want to make it easier on them by making big plays. Coach Tomlin loves to call them splash plays. A splash play can change the game and make it a turning point.

During the bye week I’ll pretty much just sit around the house and take care of this ankle. I’ll be on the couch catching up with my shows, like “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Entourage.” I also like the show “Crash” on Starz. I’ll be looking at those and seeing some movies, like the new Jamie Foxx movie “Law Abiding Citizen.”

    <intro>
This last game against Cleveland was probably one of my best of the year, but I don’t worry about that. I just go out and play the game. My job is my main concern, I’m just thinking about what I can do to help the defense, not how many sacks or tackles I have.

I think we played well on defense but you can always do better. I know I left a couple of plays out there, missed a couple of tackles. I definitely learned something from this game. The defense still has a lot more growing to do, but as the season progresses we will get better. I still think we’re good but we have strides to make.

Minnesota comes to town this week and they have so many weapons, they’re like an army. They’ve got Brett Favre, Bernard Berrian, Sidney Rice, Visanthe Shiancoe is playing amazing right now and their defense is in the top five in the league every year. They’re a complete team and we definitely have to bring our A game.

You know the Vikings are strong if they can beat Baltimore coming off a loss. The Ravens almost never lose two in a row, so to beat them after a loss, that’s impressive.

To me, Adrian Peterson is the best back in the league. He’s just unreal, a hell of an athlete. The whole defense has to work to stop him. You have to swarm to him and wrap him up when you tackle because you know he’s going to break some tackles.

It’s a great year for football. Especially in our conference, on any given Sunday any team can be beat, no matter how the team has been playing. You have to have respect for every game. Every team has playmakers, just like we do. That’s the NFL.

    <intro>
I love Pittsburgh. We have some very loyal fans. When we were in Detroit, it was like a home game. A home away from home. In the stands you could see more yellow towels than anything.

When Detroit got a call on the field, you heard more booing from Steelers fans than celebration from Detroit fans. That’s when you know you’re part of something special.

Even the cops are nice to us. I love my neighbors, they always invite us over for dinner. They love my child and they have really embraced us. It’s like having a second family.

I love the Penguins, too, I always go to the hockey games. The Pirates got better this year, it’s only a matter of time before they’re back in the playoffs – I hope. I really miss the open part of the stadium in left field, it’s a great place to watch a game.

This week we’ve got Cleveland and it’s a big game. We have a lot of fans in Ohio, so this game means a lot to them. We don’t want fans celebrating in the Dawg Pound when we play there. Also, it’s a conference game, and it’s very important that we win conference games to get in better position for the playoffs. You have to dominate in your conference before anything else, so it’s very, very important and the coaches and players take it very seriously. Every game is important, though.

I was fortunate enough to get a big sack against Detroit when they were trying to come back at the end. Coach LeBeau did a great job of calling the defense. I left a couple plays out there over the course of the game, but I think we all came together at the end.

    <intro>
Well here we go again with Pittsburgh's defense. Think i am kidding, think again. When the Steelers lost Polamalu a couple years back, their defense was less than impressive. Once he comes back I think the defense will be back to normal.

Remember when Anthony Smith garenteed victory over the Patirots a couple years back? Polamalu wasn't there and Ryan Clark wasn't there but that is besides the point. The point is, Polamalu is a franchise player and it is finally noticed when injuries occur, sadly.

There were rumors he could of came back yesterday against the Lions but why? Obviously they should and did win the game without him. Next week, Tomlin trust me, sit him out again, we do not need him against the lowly Browns whos quarterback just went 2-17 in a 6-3 victory. Just sit him out and make sure he is 100 percent ready because he is the team and also the Vikings game will be huge to the Steelers for their confidence. I am telling you that if the Vikings beat the Ravens and when the Steelers beat the Browns I can promise you the Steelers will win in Pittsburgh against the Vikings if, and only Polamalu plays at 100 percent. Even if he is 80 percent I still believe the Steelers can win because he is so dynamic.

Polamlu is the "game changer" that every defense needs. If you are missing your best defensive player (sorry James Harrison) then you struggle on defense. Once can be an accident, but twice is a problem. We can live for a year without Harrison but not Polamalu, and I mean no disrespect to James, he is the defensive MVP but Polamalu is the key to the D.

He is not your average safety, he can be found in the box, outside, covering recievers, on the line, or in your traditional safety position. A game-plan is needed for a player like Troy and that presents problems because noone can game-plan for a player like Troy. He is the best safety in the league (sorry Ed Reed, he out-shined you in the AFC Championship game last year) bar-none.
</intro>

    <intro>
This week in the AFC North, the Ravens tried to hold on to their undefeated status, but failed. On the other end of the spectrum, the Browns were successful at keeping their winless status, although the Bengals tried to give it away. Speaking of give it away, the Steelers gave away a 28-0 lead in another 4th quarter meltdown but held on in the Sunday Night game.

New England Patriots 27, Baltimore Ravens 21

The Ravens picked up their first loss of the season in New England. This game has been the subject of several blogs on Playerpress.

My initial thoughts are available in my AFC East Review.

Patrick Delaney offered a Baltimore fan's perspective on Roger Goodell's memo to officials.

Even fans of the New York Jets comment on the Brady rule (Michael Kozick article).

Next week, the Ravens host the Bengals in a matchup for the top of the North division.

Pittsburgh Steelers 38, San Diego Chargers 28

The Steelers broke their two game losing streak, but it involved some fourth inning drama. Pittsburgh has not lost three in a row under Head Coach Mike Tomlin. In week 3, the Steelers seemed to be in control in their game against the Bengals, but Cincinnati came back and beat the Steelers (week 3 recap). Every year, the Super Bowl Champions play with a target on their back. They get the best effort from their opponent, because every team wants to say that they beat the reigning champs. The Chargers fell behind 28-0, and then scored late in the third, and 21 fourth quarter points. It included a successful onsides kick where the Steelers were still leading by 14 but did not use their "hands" team for the kickoff. The Chargers did manage to get as close as 35-28, but now have a bye week to think about what went wrong in a too little too late effort.

Cincinnati Bengals 23, Cleveland Browns 20 (OT)

Which Bengals team will show up? The Steelers have a good team, and in week 3 the Bengals played up to their level and beat them. But what about this 0-4 Cleveland team? You can't exactly say they are a good team. The Bengals won in the final seconds of overtime. Would it be accurate to say they played down to the level of Cleveland? The Bengals won 2009's first edition of the Battle of Ohio. The Browns started Derek Anderson in an attempt to find a solution at QB (article by Brisc). Eric Ball offers a fan opinion for the Bengals.

Coming up in week 5...

The Bengals are in Baltimore in a battle for the top of the AFC North.

The Steelers will be in Detroit, it remains to be seen if the Lions will make it another interesting 4th quarter. Probably not.

The Browns are in Buffalo. The Bills failed to show up in Miami as the Dolphins got their first win. Maybe this is the opportunity Cleveland needs.
</intro>

    <intro>
Losing this game was definitely a tough one to swallow. Hopefully we’re going to take it out on the next team we play, San Diego at home on Sunday.

We looked at a lot of game film and the coaches were very critical in evaluating us. Anything they can do to make us play better. After a loss like that the best thing you can do is learn from it and forget it. Leave it behind and go on to the next game.

We need to learn to finish games. We let the Bengals have two late TDs, and the same thing against Chicago. We’re playing good, we’re just not making enough plays. No excuses, we just have to get out there and do it.

Against the Chargers we definitely have to get some pressure on Phillip Rivers. We didn’t get any pressure on Carson Palmer, and Rivers is one of the best passers in the NFL and he has some of the best weapons. He’s unbelievable, especially when there’s no pressure on him. We also know what Darren Sproles can do so we definitely have a lot of work to do.

As for my ankle, it’s not 100% but I can play with it. It’s nothing I can’t deal with. That’s football. I think in another week or two I’ll be fine. I feel like I’m slow right now. I’m not holding anything back, but I know I could be better and run faster if I’m healthy.

We held an event for war veterans at Heinz Field the other day. We had a kicking station and a passing station among others. I played quarterback for a bunch of guys. They were real aggressive going up against each other, some of these guys just back from the war. It was a little crazy but it was all in good fun and everyone had a good time.

    <intro>
Last season, Pittsburgh Steeler fans were bragging how they had just won there 6 Super Bowl Championship( a NFL record). They even called there town SIXBURGH! Well it will be SIXBURGH for a while, they are on NO Stairway to Seven! This years team is just horrible. They were beaten by the lowly Cincinnati Bengals to add the topping to the ice cream.

The Baltimore Ravens are legit! Joe"Wacco" Flacco is undoubtly the best QB in that division! The Ravens have the best 3 running back combo perhaps in NFL history this season. They could go undefeated this season. It looks like Pittsburgh better get used to the cold hard reality, that its too late to play KETCHUP(haha, get it? HInes"ketchup" Field lol)

Little Ben Roethlisberger just cant throw the football like he used to. Hines Ward is finally slowing down, and Nate Washington went to another loser team in the Titans. Pittsburgh, get ready for a long season! When you wave them towells in the air, its like a soldier in the war zone,waving his flag to surrendor. Become a Baltimore Raven fan! The Ravens could go undefeated this season!
</intro>

    <intro>
I didn’t get to play in last weeks game against the Titans because of my ankle injury but the rehab is going great and the ankle feels real good right now. I will definitely be playing in this week’s game against the Bears in Chicago.

I practiced this week on Wednesday and Thursday and the ankle feels just fine. I’m taking it one day at a time and will be back to 100% real soon. Right now it is feeling really good and I’ll be ready for the Bears this Sunday at Soldier Field.

This will be the first time I have ever played in Soldier Field and I am very interested to see the so-called UFO that landed inside the stadium. I know that a UFO didn’t really land there, but they say it looks like one did.

We have a good game plan for the Bears and we know that that they are going to play hard and try and make up for their close loss against the Packers in week one. We know the Bears are going to come in and play a whole lot better then they did last week, plus they will have the home crowd behind them.

Jay Cutler is a real good quarterback and we know that he will be pumped and try to win the game. Jay throwing four picks is highly unusual and he is going to be trying his best to beat us, so we have to be ready to defend him and limit what Cutler and the Bears offense do during the game.

Matt Forte is also a very good runner who runs downhill and can take it to the house at any time so we have to make sure to contain him and not let him get into open space.

We also know that we have to be very good on special teams with Devin Hester returning punts. He can run one back to the house at any time and we have to be ready for him. The Bears have really good special teams so we are going to have to match them.

It was a shame that Brian Urlacher got hurt and is out for the season. In hearing about his injury, it was probably best for him and his future that he is out for the season. A linebacker really needs the use of his wrist and hands to play the position properly.

We had our own defensive leader get injured in week one as well, as I am sure you have all heard. Troy Polamalu hurt his knee, but he works hard and has been making progress and rehabbing his injury. He is a hard worker and I feel that he will be back on the field sooner then most people expect.

He will obviously not be playing this week against the Bears, and I’m sure that we are going to miss him on the field. We will not only miss him for his playing ability but also his leadership skills on the field. He keeps everyone on the defense in line and he is one of the best, if not the best safety in the league.

But just as the Bears are going to have to do without their defensive leader in Urlacher, with Troy out, the backup and the rest of the defense is going to have to step it up and fill in the void.

It should be a great game between two hard-hitting teams that like to play smash mouth football.

Lawrence Timmons is a linebacker with the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
